Hello everyone,
The SPCA would like to create a list of municipal by-laws that regular the number of animals permitted per household.
After an urgent phone call from a citizen who will be obliged to abandon her cats because she exceeds the number of cats permitted by her Municipality, the SPCA wants to take an official public position against these often abusive municipal by-laws.
We are trying to research the municipal by-laws for municipalities in and around the island of Montreal.
Here is how you can help us with this research:
By consulting the website of your municipality or arrondissement, you can find the by-laws which concern animal control (and the number of animals permitted per household). Once you have found the by-law, if you could send the link to adevine@spcamontreal.com and mention the name of the municipality and a brief resume of the restrictions.
For example:
Laval, 2 dogs maximum, no limit on cats:
http://www.info.ville.laval.qc.ca/wlav2/docs/folders/portail/fr/guichet_municipal/reglements/animaux/document/depliant_animaux_08.pdf
It is as simple as that! With collaboration we will be able to quickly put together a list of all municipalities and their by-laws which we will send you as soon as all information has been collected.
The deadline for this research is Sunday at midnight.
Happy researching and thank you so much for helping us with this!
